like myself

Shirt: Express, Pants: thrifted, Boots: Charlotte Russe

I've felt especially like myself lately, and this is a particularly me outfit. I love colored pants so much, but have had completely rubbish luck finding ones that I like. I did find a pair that are rust colored that I'll be breaking out soon as it gets more fall-ish, but that is not the point. The point is that I feel like myself. And sometimes that's pretty cool.

busy lately...

I'm sorry that I haven't been too up on my blogging lately. I have a string of craft fairs coming up that are really kind of sucking up all my time. My inventory is steadily growing and these are some of my billie ball flowers all ready to get made into some great bouquets. Hang in there and I'll be back to more frequent posting soon.

memories of london

Leggings: TJ Maxx, Cardigan and belt: thrifted, Tunic: thrifted in Ireland, Bag: Charlie's

I wore almost this exact outfit over two years ago while I was visiting London, and I was feeling nostalgic. In fact, here I am in front of the the rebuilt Globe Theater, August 2010.
Short hair, different boots, and a few more cold weather layers, but not too much has changed.

It's nice to remember all the wonderful time I spent travelling and look through my pictures again. It gives me such a wonderful sense that all my experiences really have brought me to this point in my life. I am constantly becoming more myself, and though the places and activities change, everything becomes a part of me. Even the outfits I wear.

Have a good day everybody!

how I feel about things

Things are going well.

I am learning to take the small victories and enjoy the process more. I'm learning to let my love dictate how I spend my time. I have rediscovered my passion for handmade, for crafting each individual piece with care and attention. I'm learning to solve math problems again to prepare for that pesky GRE next weekend.

Things are good.

Have a great weekend everyone!

all striped up

There's something about stripes that just seems to make them such a happy choice, especially when they're multicolored. This dress is an excuse to have a good day in one easy step - two if it's dark in the room.

Step 1: Find said dress.
Step: Proceed to wear said dress all day.

Dress: The Girls from Savoy, Shoes: thrifted, Earrings: vintage from my grandma

This outfit went from church to errands to a backyard picnic with friends with ease. Can't beat that.
Now if I can just find a way around getting it dry cleaned.

So whether it's a stripey dress like this one, some subtle bedroom stripes, or all out crazy fuzzy stripes, rock some stripes today. Your mood will thank you.

Jill

corally yours

Jeans: NY & Co, Boots: Maurices, Shirt: hard to say, Bag: Charming Charlie's

The summer of 2012 has been the summer of realizing that I can wear all sorts of colors I always thought were off limit for one as, we'll say fair {read: pale}, as me: mustard yellow, coral, even white! Who knew! Coral has been my most recent obsession and this top absolutely called to me from the disheveled racks of NBC. {Not going to shut up about how much I love that place quite yet.}

three dollar outfit

Top: Eddie Bauer, Pants: Free People, Shoes: Target, Bag: Charlie's

So I know I have been frequently singing the praises lately of NBC, but this outfit kind of takes the cake. Everything except the shoes came from there for a grand total of one dollar each. Noticing a trend?

These Free People sweats are amazing. They look like acid wash jeans, but they're actually sweats! It's like cheating, I know. This was the perfect outfit for a cooler day of running errands, making food, and chilling out outside with some friends at an impromptu backyard concert.  It was a lovely weekend.

Love the vintage owl charm from my great aunt. Wear it all the time.

that girl

Jumpsuit: BCBG Max Azria, belt: thrifted, shoes: thrifted, earrings: Favoring Brave

I have this very clear memory of a time in college when I went to a First Friday art gallery opening in Kansas City with some friends and saw this girl there in a strapless, electric blue jumpsuit. We all rolled  our eyes as if to say, oh my gosh, it's that girl

Well, ladies and gentlemen, thanks to a dollar sale at NBC and some unusual confidence,
today I am that girl.

At least I paid $1 for it instead of the $158 ticket price.

Have a great weekend!

peace&love,
Jill
